La plataforma de criptomonedas con sede en EE. UU. FalconX cerró una recaudación de fondos de $ 150 millones liderada por los gigantes de la inversión: GIC y B Capital, y su valoración aumentó a $ 8 mil millones.
A pesar del accidente, FalconX sigue progresando
En una reciente entrevista para Reuters, el fundador y director general de FalconX, Raghu Yarlagadda, dijo que la valoración de su empresa era inferior a los 4.000 millones de dólares hace 10 meses. Sin embargo, las numerosas rondas de financiación, incluida la última por 150 millones de dólares, tuvieron un impacto positivo, y ahora la valoración total del centro de negociación ha aumentado a 8.000 millones de dólares.
Yarlagadda afirmó que el capital fresco se distribuirá en nuevas adquisiciones, análisis de datos y tecnología. La firma también tiene la intención de expandir sus servicios a clientes de los sectores de crédito y corretaje principal y comercio.
Además de GIC y B Capital, que lideraron la financiación, otros inversores destacados incluyeron a Thoma Bravo, Tiger Global Management, Adams Street Partners y Wellington Management.
A diferencia de muchos otros intercambios, como CryptoCom y Coinbase, FalconX planea expandir su equipo con más personas. En concreto, está dispuesto a incorporar 55 empleados adicionales, lo que supondría un incremento del 30% en la plantilla total.
“Durante los próximos 12 a 18 meses, esperamos un mercado muy volátil. Y dada esa volatilidad, vemos oportunidades de adquisición muy sólidas”, explicó el CEO.
A principios de este mes, el intercambio de criptomonedas más grande del mundo, Binance, reveló intenciones similares. El CEO Changpeng Zhao argumentó que el mercado bajista actual es el momento perfecto en el que su empresa puede dar la bienvenida a nuevas personas. Unos días después, él duplicado sobre las ambiciones que revelan que Binance está buscando fortalecer su equipo con 2,000 personas.
Los intercambios atraviesan tiempos difíciles
Cabe mencionar que el declive del mercado de las criptomonedas ha afectado negativamente a muchas de las plataformas líderes.
Por un lado, Coinbase dijo que tendrá que reducir el tamaño de su equipo en un 18%. El jefe del centro de negociación, Brian Armstrong, explicó la decisión con la recesión que probablemente afectará a la economía mundial en los próximos meses:
“Parece que estamos entrando en una recesión después de un auge económico de más de 10 años”.
CryptoCom y Bybit son otros ejemplos de plataformas que despedirán a algunos de sus empleados. El primero despedirá a 260 personas (o el 5% de su personal), mientras que el segundo no reveló un número exacto.
Sin embargo, un vocero de Bybit aseguró que las personas afectadas recibirán ciertas compensaciones y apoyo con sus transiciones laborales.
