Las acciones de Metaplanet (3350.T) subieron más del 15% el 15 de octubre (hora asiática) después de que la compañía anunciara que agregó más de 106 Bitcoin a sus reservas. De acuerdo a datos de Yahoo Finance, el precio de las acciones alcanzó los 1.105 JPY, un salto sustancial desde el cierre anterior de 955 JPY.
La última adquisición eleva las tenencias totales de Bitcoin de Metaplanet a más de 855 BTC, valoradas en alrededor de $56 millones a precios actuales. El precio de compra medio de la compañía por Bitcoin se sitúa en unos 62.200 dólares, lo que está por debajo del precio de mercado actual de 65.700 dólares.
La empresa realizó cuatro compras de Bitcoin este mes. La tercera adquisición se realizó el 10 de octubre, luego de las anteriores el 1 y 7 de octubre.
El director ejecutivo de Metaplanet, Simon Gerovich, dijo que el objetivo era acumular al menos 1.000 BTC. Con la nueva adquisición, la compañía ahora está a solo 145 BTC de su objetivo. Parece que Metaplanet no tiene planes de vender sus participaciones pronto.
La acumulación de la empresa la posiciona como la 17ª empresa pública tenedora de Bitcoin, según datos de los bonos del Tesoro de Bitcoin. Si continúa a este ritmo, Metaplanet está preparada para superar a Meitu, con sede en Hong Kong, que posee 940 BTC, convirtiéndose en el mayor poseedor de Bitcoin entre las empresas públicas asiáticas.
