Lo que está menos claro para los criptoanalistas que examinan las métricas de desempeño de Polygon es si el golpe traerá alivio a los poseedores de los tokens en problemas del proyecto. un 65% menos este año.
Polymarket ha ganado popularidad entre los principales usuarios, lo que les permite hacer apuestas sobre las próximas elecciones presidenciales de Estados Unidos. Los apostadores de polimercados han añadido casi 2.400 millones de dólares a la pregunta de si Donald Trump o Kamala Harris ganarán las elecciones de noviembre. Entonces, dado el auge en el uso de la aplicación, ¿por qué solo ha producido una pequeña cantidad en dólares para el equipo de Polygon y apenas ha aumentado el precio del token POL nativo?
Según datos de Token Terminal, al 23 de octubre, Polymarket solo había generado alrededor de $27,000 en tarifas de transacción para Polygon PoS en 2024.
La respuesta, en parte, es que las tarifas se basan en el mercado. Y últimamente, realizar transacciones en Polygon PoS es extremadamente económico.
La tarifa de transacción promedio en la cadena Polygon PoS ese mismo día fue de $0,007.
Cada vez que un usuario de Polymarket hace una apuesta, está creando una transacción en Polygon PoS. Como parte de esas transacciones, pagan tarifas a Polygon PoS, que se dividen en una tarifa base y una tarifa de prioridad. La tarifa base no se destina a los validadores; en lugar de eso, se quema: se envía a una dirección nula que, en teoría, debería beneficiar a los poseedores de tokens al ayudar a reducir el suministro.
“Esa tarifa base es ajustable y se basa en la congestión de la red”, dijo Marc Boiron, director ejecutivo de Polygon Labs, a CoinDesk en una entrevista. “Entonces, a medida que la red se congestiona más, esa tarifa base aumenta”.
La tarifa de prioridad se paga a un validador.

Otro problema es que, en el gran esquema de las cosas, si bien los apostadores de Polymarket son bastante activos, el volumen de transacciones no se acerca al nivel de aplicaciones de alta intensidad como los intercambios de cifrado descentralizados (DEX).
En lo que va del mes, el 5,2% de las transacciones en la cadena Polygon PoS provinieron de Polymarket, según el equipo de investigación de Polygon. Chainlink representa el 10,38% de las transacciones en PoS, mientras que las transferencias de la moneda estable USDT representan el 4,89%.

El 23 de octubre, Polymarket representaba aproximadamente el 8% del “gas” utilizado en Polygon PoS, según datos del explorador blockchain PolygonScan. Eso lo convirtió en el mayor contribuyente individual. En la terminología de blockchain, el gas es una medida de la intensidad computacional requerida para cualquier lote de transacciones.
“Observo cómo está construido”, dijo Boiron. “Nunca esperaría muchas tarifas de Polymarket, porque no tiene una enorme capacidad de componibilidad, como Uniswap. Tiene algo, pero no mucho. En realidad, solo son usuarios los que vienen allí. Están ejecutando una transacción y luego deteniéndola. Por lo tanto, inherentemente nunca conducirá tanto hasta que el número de usuarios aumente mucho”.
La atención es la recompensa.
Durante mucho tiempo, Polygon ha buscado su momento decisivo, invirtiendo millones en asociaciones con Starbucks y Meta para intentar llevar Web3 a las masas. Esos acuerdos nunca despegaron realmente.

La explosión orgánica de Polymarket ha contribuido al éxito de Polygon debido a la atención que aporta al ecosistema, afirmó.
