El cofundador de Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, ha propuesto una actualización significativa del mecanismo de consenso de prueba de participación de Ethereum, que sugiere que el umbral de bloqueo del validador se reduzca de 32 ETH a 1 ETH.
Según Buterin, “reducir la apuesta mínima a 1 ETH resolvería el problema de impedir que más personas apuesten en solitario”, democratizando así las apuestas y mejorando la descentralización de Ethereum.
Actualmente, Ethereum requiere 32 ETH para convertirse en validador, un límite diseñado para equilibrar la seguridad, la descentralización y los costos generales.
La nueva propuesta de Buterin, sin embargo, sostiene que este alto umbral es una barrera para los participantes más pequeños y los apostadores individuales, que quieren contribuir a la seguridad de Ethereum pero no pueden permitirse el bloqueo sustancial.
Reducir el umbral a solo 1 ETH reduciría significativamente la barrera de entrada, alentaría a más participantes individuales a unirse a la red y potencialmente disminuiría la centralización de las apuestas. Buterin cree que esto se alineará con la visión a largo plazo de Ethereum de ser accesible a una gama más amplia de usuarios.
Un desafío para esta reducción del umbral es mantener la eficiencia sin sobrecargar la red. Buterin destacó que reducir el umbral aumentaría la cantidad de validadores, lo que potencialmente podría ralentizar la finalidad o aumentar los costos operativos para ejecutar un nodo.
Para abordar esto, Buterin también propone el concepto de “finalidad de ranura única”, que aceleraría la confirmación de bloques, reduciendo los tiempos de finalización de los 15 minutos actuales a alrededor de 12 segundos.
Esto no sólo mejoraría la experiencia del usuario sino que también garantizaría que la seguridad de Ethereum siga siendo sólida, incluso con un mayor número de validadores.
La comunidad Ethereum ha debatido durante mucho tiempo la accesibilidad de las apuestas. Muchos apostadores individuales han expresado su frustración con el requisito de 32 ETH, y la propuesta de Buterin podría cambiar las reglas del juego para empoderar a los participantes más pequeños. Sin embargo, la implementación requerirá pruebas e investigaciones exhaustivas para garantizar que la estabilidad de la red no se vea comprometida.
Si se aprueba esta propuesta, podría marcar el comienzo de una nueva era de descentralización para Ethereum, permitiendo potencialmente que miles de validadores más se unan a la red con tan solo 1 ETH.
